This year’s Live Auction Luncheon, scheduled for Thursday, September 25th, will deliver an unrivaled, unique culinary experience. Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta is honored to have the Gruet Winery family as this year’s honorees. In celebrating their 25th Anniversary of producing superb sparkling wines in New Mexico, sister and brother team Nathalie and Laurent Gruet will be joined by their sister and mother from Gruet Pere & Fils in Bethon, Champagne for the event.
Both Gruet New Mexico sparkling wines and Gruet French Champagnes will be served at the luncheon. In addition, Gruet’s reserve Pinot Noir will be featured and we are pleased to announce the addition of Caymus’s 40th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the featured wines. Like the Gruet family with Champagne in France and New Mexico, the Caymus family for generations has been making on of the best wines (Cabernet) of their region (Napa).
Guest chefs each doing one of five courses to be paired with Gruet wines at the Luncheon could not be better. A James Beard finalist for best chef of the Midwest 2014, Kevin Nashan, chef/owner of Sidney Street Café in St. Louis, will be joined by two of Santa Fe’s top chefs: Martin Rios of Restaurant Martin and James Campbell Caruso of La Boca – both James Beard repeat nominees for Best Chef of the Southwest. Anthony Smith, Executive Chef of the Eldorado Hotel, will host a course as will Laura Werlin, the James Beard Award winning author of six books about cheese.
Thirty-five unique, one-of-a-kind wine lots will be auctioned off during the luncheon. One of the highlights includes a trip to Champagne for four lucky winning bidders who will enjoy overnights at Gruet Pere & Fils with lavish meals, VIP Tastings and Tours at some of Champagne’s top cellars.
