On behalf of 75 fabulous Santa Fe restaurants, 100 world-class wineries and our event’s Board of Directors, it my great honor to thank you for attending our 23rd annual Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta!
As the event delivers its 23rd rendition, the Santa Fe restaurants are greater than ever and the enthusiastic guests who fill our Rocky Mountain town converge from around the world happier than ever. And for good reason. This year visiting chefs David Tanis, Bruce Aidells, Matthew Accarrino, Laura Werlin and Katherine Clapner will host exquisite guest-chef luncheons and tastings. Four Master Sommeliers — Emily Wines, Melissa Monosoff, Tim Gaiser and Joe Spellman — lead eight stimulating and timely wine seminars. Cooking demonstrations at the Santa Fe School of Cooking will highlight 12 of our top Santa Fe chefs. Our 100 visiting wineries will pour their best wines at Reserve Tasting. At our Live Auction Luncheon our visiting chefs network with our local chefs helping raise funds for our local food charities. And wineries partner each night with our Santa Fe restaurants in 40 winemaker dinners.
Still, the centerpiece, our raison d’etre, remains the Grand Tasting — always on the last Saturday of September and now featuring 75 great Santa Fe restaurants serving sumptuous tastes alongside 100 world-class wineries to 3000 food and wine enthusiasts on the grounds of the Santa Fe Opera, in full view of our Sangre de Cristo Mountains sparkling under the bluest sky imaginable with stands of aspens in golden bloom. Is there a better place to be at this moment?
Santa Fe, the participating wineries, the time of year, our visiting guests all conspire to make a memorable event, but the identity and long-lasting character of the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta is the Santa Fe restaurant community. The Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta exists simply as a refelction of the strength and unique identity of our restaurant community. Let us now raise a glass to the 23rd annual Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta and to the reason it exists: the most remarkable restaurant community in the universe!
